How to Look Good When You're Feeling Blah?

When we’re feeling sick usually we don’t like to get dressed and we tend to stay in bed.  Here are a few suggestions for looking good even when we’re feeling blah!
Bright, Pretty Eyes
To brighten your eyes and reduce redness, use extra makeup in the inner corners of eyes with a soft peach or champagne eye shadow.  Use a pencil liner that matches your skin tone on the lower rim of your lower eyelid.  This will hide the redness and make your eyes look bigger.
Waterproof and Pretty
For eyes that look wide awake, even when they are puffy, watery and red?  Use 1 – 2 coats of waterproof mascara.
Getting the Red Out
A mint green color corrector balances the redness of a stuffy nose.  Pat the nostrils to blend edges and apply a concealer that matches your skin tone after using a green corrector.
Moisture to the Max
Having a cold usually means dehydration, which means keeping dry skin moisturized for a bright, healthy complexion.  Use a rich moisturizer on the skin while it is damp.  This will trap and hold the moisture in.  a pinch of extra virgin olive oil will also help moisturize skin.
Get Warmer
A creamy blush to the apples of cheeks, then blended toward the temples will add freshness to sallow skin.  By brushing a bronzer to the high points of the face, like the nose, chin and forehead will add warmth to the face.
Smooth Move
For dry cracked lips, most experts say not to scrub the flaky skin off.  Instead, use a petroleum-jelly based lip balm or moisturizer to lock in moisturizer and heal dry, cracked lips.
From Inside Out
Got the sniffles?  It is best to drinks lots of water to avoid dry, sagging skin that is usually associated with mild dehydration.  It is also best to avoid alcohol and caffeine as they can dry skin.
Poof Puffiness
In order to prevent the swollen eyes we get in the mornings, sleep on two pillows.  The added height can reduce swelling.  You can also try using a frozen gel pack or ice cubes wrapped in either a towel or baggie for at least 15 minutes.
Brush Up
To have clear skin, it is best to use clean makeup brushes.  Dirty brushes hold in bacteria; especially when we have a cold.  To clean brushes:  use warm water with a dot of baby shampoo.  Rinse bristles until water runs clear and allow to air dry.  For extra protection:  use an antibacterial and wipe dry with towel.
Art of Distraction
When we get sick, we tend to stay in bed and wear our PJ’s.  If we wish to hide how we feel and boost our mood when we’re feeling blah trying wearing a pretty dress which distracts from the sniffles and gives a full outfit in one step.
Prime Time
When you can’t keep your hands off your face and want to keep the make up on your face and make your foundation last through those annoying sneezes and eye-rubbings?  Try using a primer and allow it to sink into your skin for 5 minutes before applying your foundation.
Go Natural
In order to stay sheer and keep your foundation from caking, mix it with a moisturizer.  This will thin out the foundation and give it a lighter more natural, even coverage.
For most of us, it is not fun when we are not feeling well.  But for those times when you want to look your best even when you’re feeling blah, these simple tricks will help you look fresh and invigorated for those times when you must look your best!
